Hello! I’m Ailsa.

I’m 37, a single mum of two highly spirited small people and one huuuuge extremely silly and equally high spirited chocolate labrador.
Things I love – family, true friends, creating, being outside, water, beaches, windy days, the military, coffee, travel, laughing, old Volkswagens, tattoos, tins, cheeseburgers, flower crowns, bees, old stuff and things made of wood. To name but a few.

I’ve got a degree in Psychology and a background in Mental Health Nursing and I’m learning British Sign Language. I spent four years as an RAF reservist (Aeromedical Evacuation) which I LOVED. Bit of a change to become a photographer, yes! All of my past experiences contribute to the way I shoot and photography does a great job of feeding my creative free spirit. I thrive with variety and I love meeting new people, making new connections, creating memories and documenting history. Oh and I make dreamcatchers.

Sometimes I wonder what it is that really gets me about photography. And I think it’s this – the concept of time passing has always fascinated me. And it makes me sad. My favourite EVER book is The Time Travellers Wife (Audrey Niffenegger) – I’ve read it several times and I’m just so preoccupied with the fact that time steals so many things. People, events, moments that you can’t get back. But the time traveller could go back, could relive those things all over again. Of course, we can’t go back in time and our memories fade. But through photographs, we CAN go back in time! I’m so grateful for my photos that remind me of special moments, childhood memories that I would have otherwise forgotten, even difficult times that make you realise how life has changed. You can never take too many pictures! We are all photographers. But sometimes you need someone to capture your moments for you, so you can really be there and not see life through a lens all of the time. That’s a compulsion I must live with!

I am a lifestyle and branding photographer in Knutsford, Cheshire. I LOVE to travel throughout the UK and overseas. I specialise in natural, candid photography.
